Old Town Yucca Valley is a gem hidden right in plain sight.  Easy to blow through on your way to Joshua Tree on California's Route 62, you should really plan for a stop, especially if you enjoy hunting for "vintage" treasures and original desert creations.  Don't miss nearby Desert Christ Park, either.  It's a fantastic stop for photographers and those seeking a little peace.
